PCR stands for post-consumer recycled, which is recycled material that has been used by consumers. Think of empty shampoo tubes, plastic bags or empty beverage bottles for example. PIR stands for post-industrial recycled, which is recycled material gained from production waste at manufacturers like us.
Multitubes is one of the first to launch 7-layered extruded tubes, providing great opportunities to optimize the use of PCR. For example; the inner layer of the tube could be made out of virgin/bio –plastic, meaning the product will not be in touch with PCR. In this case still 6 out of 7 layers will be made out of 100% PCR plastic.

The calculation is based on a Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, which considers only the replacement of the raw material with recycled material. This analysis is carried out using the ‘Modint Ecotool’ software, developed by CE Delft, based on generally accepted LCA databases, international studies, literature and company data.
